Syntax Advisors, LLC is an SEC registered investment advisor based in New York providing investors with rules-based, diversified exposure to business risks via products that track Syntax Stratified Weight Indices. 

Job Purpose:

  • As Syntax Advisors grows, it is looking for an accounting professional to implement, enhance, and oversee its accounting quality control processes and procedures as well as coordinate accounting oversight over third party service providers
  • This position is an ideal opportunity for a self-starter looking to enter a company in its early-growth stages
  • The ideal candidate is one that is detailed oriented and has prior experience working in Fund Administration or Fund Accounting
  • The Accounting Manager will work closely with senior management at Syntax Advisors and will have the opportunity to gain experience across a wide variety of accounting functions and product types. 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of the quality control processes for Accounting, Reporting, Treasury, and Tax, with a specific focus on Syntax’s ETFs
  • Financial statement and regulatory document review 
  • Management of GIPS compliance processes
  • Assisting with the quarterly preparation of reports and materials to the Board of Trustees 
  • Developing accounting oversight and control processes for new product/vehicle launches
  • Regularly reviewing operational processes and procedures; identify areas for improvement and implement changes 
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of work experience in Fund Administration or Fund Accounting at an ETF sponsor, mutual fund sponsor, administrator, or similar industry experience
  • Undergraduate degree (in accounting or finance preferred); CPA preferred or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Working knowledge of ETF operations, as well as strong understanding of financial and operational controls 
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Detailed oriented, receptive to feedback, and maintains integrity in every aspect of performance
  • Self-motivated team player with strong business judgement
  • Adaptable, and able to work effectively and efficiently on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with GIPS standards a plus
  • Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
