Job Summary

Team member on the principal trading desk focusing on ETFs. Uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience for the trading and sales trading of ETFs on a principal and  agency basis for a wide range of clients; works closely with specialty ETF market makers to achieve best execution for Raymond James clients. Leverage Raymond James sector, macro and index analysts to create content and trading strategies for clients using ETFs. Strengthen and develop new relationships with ETF issuers to garner rebalancing trades executed by the portfolio trading desk. Has the ability to evaluate strategies and thoughts on risk/reward, regulatory landscape, and implied probability. Guidance is provided to perform varied and complex activities that require some evaluation, originality and ingenuity in making complex decisions. Responsible for reviewing all filings, documents and regulatory reporting to develop a view/idea/trading analysis on specific and macro events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute client orders on principal and agency basis.
  • Active dialogue with clients trading/utilizing ETFs .
  • Produce desk analysis and reports that are of interest to institutional clients active in ETFs
  • Work with numerous trading groups within Raymond James including: cash, portfolio trading and derivatives.
  • Dissemination of information to sales/sales trading force on a timely basis.
  • Leveraging market makers to execute on Create/Redeem opportunities, including risk sourcing and liquidation.
  • Coordinating operational processes, including trade booking and risk/revenue reconciliation as needed.
  • Build relationships with ETF issuers to garner rebalancing flow on the portfolio trading desk.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge of

  • Fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of equity principal trading.
  • Fundamental trading strategies and market characteristics within assigned securities type or sector.
  • Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations.
  • Financial markets and ETF products.
  • Company’s working structure, policies, mission, and strategies.
  • Understanding of Raymond James fundamental research
  • How to derive trading ideas and produce content/commentary for clients

Skill in

  • Fundamental math and analytics sufficient for quantitative analysis.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Identifying relationships, draw logical conclusions, and interpret results.
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software including email, graphics, presentation, spreadsheet, database, and project management software.

Education/Previous Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field with five (5) to seven (7) years of experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.

Licenses/Certifications

  • SIE required provided that an exemption or grandfathering cannot be applied.
  • FINRA Series 7 and Series 55 Licenses or ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire date.
  • The ability to obtain other FINRA Licenses, depending on functional area, within three (3) months of hire date.
