Overview of the Department/Section
- Corporate Advisory focuses on corporate finance advisory for MUFG’s corporate clients, including ESG advisory, and on the origination and execution of event financings.
Main Purpose of the Role
- To develop MUFG’s ESG financing advisory franchise, collaborating closely with the ESG business coordinator and other ESG focused professionals across GCIB and Securities
- In addition, as required, to support MUFG’s broader Corporate Finance agenda
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of ESG related industry and company analysis with a view to developing our dialogue with clients around ESG financing generally and to position MUFG to lead on potential ESG financing mandates
- Take initiative to develop relevant ESG technical expertise, supporting the engagement with clients on ESG thought leadership
- Take responsibility for the preparation and presentation of the necessary client marketing materials in coordination with other ESG focused professionals across GCIB and Securities
- Support the execution of ESG financing related mandates
- Build relationships throughout MUFG to develop a relevant peer network, gather relevant information and help to ensure effective inter-departmental and inter-regional collaboration
- Lead as required the development of corporate finance analysis including industry, company, structuring, M&A and financial impact modelling
- Provide guidance and coaching for new and junior colleagues in the team
Work Experience
- Demonstrated and developing knowledge of ESG and corporate finance
- Solid banking experience in a relevant role, for example at a leading ESG Advisory, Corporate Advisory, Acquisition Finance, or Structured Finance house
Skills and Experience
Functional / Technical Competencies:
- Familiarity with global ESG financing topics
- Firm understanding of ESG related terminology
- Understanding of topical ESG issues including taxonomies, regulation, transition financing, greenwashing
- Detailed knowledge of ESG rating methodologies and approaches
- Familiarity with ESG reporting, frameworks, UOP and SL financing
- Up to date knowledge of the sustainable financing markets
- Understanding of impact of ESG assessments on capital providers
- Understating of relevance of ESG for banking products
- An established working knowledge of corporate finance, including capital markets and M&A
- While it is recognised that relevant candidates may not have all such competencies day one, they should have a foundation of knowledge, experience and a genuine enthusiasm for the topics to enable the development of the required skill set
Education / Qualifications:
Essential
- Undergraduate/Master degree
Preferred:
- Appropriate professional qualifications advantageous e.g. CFA, ESG related
