Sr. Manager – ETF Marketing

Job Purpose:

  • As a Sr Manager – ETF Marketing, you’ll lead a team through development, launch and ongoing production and management of marketing initiatives designed to grow Principal’s ETF product line
  • You will create and implement a marketing and communications plan that translates the goals and objectives of the ETF platform
  • In addition, you will provide direction to internal and external content resources to craft ETF product marketing messaging and designing collateral materials and channel specific content that address the needs of Principal Global Investors’ client base
  • Work closely with investment teams and the ETF platform to produce compelling thought leadership that is specifically relevant for ETF investors
  • Ensure consistent, timely content integration, planning and utilize various communication platforms including print (i.e. white papers, brochures, presentations) and digital (i.e. web sites, social media platforms, email marketing, mobile marketing)
  • Partner with the ETF platform, distribution leadership, product management, investment boutique stakeholders, and work closely with the marketing communications and channel marketing teams to execute and prioritize strategic projects, and to ensure marketing initiatives are in alignment with the overall brand and business objectives of Principal Global Investors
  • Lead, develop and motivate staff in an environment that embraces change, fosters focus, teamwork, creativity, timeliness and results that are measured and recognized.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Drive the strategic direction of the ETF marketing team responsible for the creation, positioning, and strategic direction of product related content and communications to drive the ETF platform investment-oriented thought capital and marketing collateral
  • Manage the ETF marketing team budget
  • Drive the planning process to identify short-term and long-term objectives/initiatives
  • Drive the coordination and prioritization of the teams’ initiatives and projects to achieve stated high-level objectives
  • Ensure consistent, timely content integration, planning, and utilization of various communication platforms including print (i.e. white papers, brochures, presentations) and digital (i.e. web sites, social media platforms, email marketing, mobile marketing)
  • Lead and manage complex, strategically aligned business projects to successful completion
  • Collaborate with product management leadership, investment boutique stakeholders, marketing production team and work closely with the segment and communications teams to understand and convey gaps and opportunities
  • Build awareness of products and services through strategic communications targeted to defined audiences and to execute and prioritize strategic projects and ensure marketing initiatives are in alignment with the overall brand and business objectives of Principal Global Investors
  • Partner with stakeholders on product materials, positioning, capabilities messaging, presentations and targeted communications; drive client experience around product messaging
  • Lead, develop, and motivate staff in an environment that embraces change, fosters focus, teamwork, creativity, timeliness and results that are measured and recognized
  • This includes providing training, career development, performance measurement, performance management, and input into hiring, compensation administration and rewards and recognition activities
  • Coach and motivate staff to further their development and use their capabilities
  • Provide ongoing feedback for improvement and competency development
  • Participate in the planning, prioritization and execution of high-level initiatives for the product and marketing team
  • Direct and champion the efforts of the ETF marketing team including the establishment of short and long-term goals/ initiatives, breakdown of work and budget allocation.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; MBA is helpful
  • 8+ years of asset management experience specifically in ETF and marketing roles
  • Formal leadership experience
  • Track record developing effective marketing and communications strategies and driving execution of plans that result in tangible business growth
  • Experience developing ETF content and messaging across various channels of retail/intermediary and institutional distribution
  • Requires the ability to understand and drive the execution and delivery of marketing strategies and ETF investment information across various asset classes
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and negotiate
  • Strong abilities in the areas of problem solving, communications, project management, and decision making
  • Detail oriented with excellent planning, delegation, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage expectations, attend to details, handle multiple projects, and prioritize effectively
  • FINRA Series 24
  • If you don’t have active licensing, an active FINRA Series 24 will need to be obtained within 12 months of start date
  • Travel may be required up to 10% of the time
  • Deep knowledge of macro drivers across all asset classes and areas of capital markets, particularly those that impact ETF investments
  • Strong understanding of asset allocation, portfolio construction and how ETFs are being employed in investment strategies among retail, high net worth and institutional investors
  • A track record of creating and delivering high impact thought leadership pieces
  • Experience designing thoughtful and effective marketing collateral materials
  • An appreciation for the changing landscape in asset management and the positioning of an ETF suite of investment products relative to traditional active management
  • Strategic mindset and desire to be an integral member of a team driven to build a competitive, world-class ETF business. Analytical thinker and problem solver.
