Job Purpose:

  • As a SPDR Strategist you will work to provide outstanding investment content for Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) investors in EMEA and Asia. This includes working with sales and investment teams across Europe as well as other strategists to develop tools and presentations that integrate thought leadership from across different investment disciplines

  • You will contribute to the growth of the European SPDR ETF business through providing analytical analysis, thought leadership and via the creation and maintenance of materials, such as sales presentations, short pieces, competitive analysis and answers to ad-hoc requests

  • In your role you will also author research papers on general market and ETF-related topics. You will also be an ambassador of the team presenting in front of investors in different settings from panels to broad audience addresses

Your Responsibilities:

  • Work on standard fixed income presentations as well as ad-hoc ones for conferences
  • Act as a resource for the EMEA sales force through research ideas and commentary on Fixed Income markets
  • Collaborate with the Head of Strategy & Research, Marketing, Product Development and Capital Markets to deliver high quality solutions for clients
  • Develop tools to monitor market and competition to be used by sales teams
  • Present on yield and spreads developments at internal weekly meetings
  • Be a speaker for the firm at external events.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Under-graduate degree or above individual with existing experience in or interest in developing a career in the fast-growing ETF industry
  • 10-15 years of financial industry – ETF, sell-side, index or asset management industry experience is ideal
  • Understanding of both fixed income and equity markets ideal
  • CFA qualified or progress towards the qualification is desirable
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills. Exposure to financial systems such as FactSet, Morningstar Direct, and Bloomberg helpful
  • Proficiency in the practical applications of statistics, finance and economics to investment management is required,
  • Able to analyze and evaluate data and present findings
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and prioritize workload
  • Application of creative thinking to problems and process improvements
  • Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to take complex ideas and present them in an intuitive fashion
  • Willing to assume responsibility and take ownership of tasks assigned
