The SPDR ETF Strategist works with the Head of SPDR ETF Strategy & Research across the following angles:

  • Support Cross Asset Research to author pieces of research on market developments and impact on the SPDR funds ;
  • Manage flow publications
  • Maintain standard presentation on SPDR offering (across asset classes and for specific exposures such as broad equities & ESG
  • Develop databases for Competitive analysis positioning

What you will be responsible for

As SPDR ETF Strategist you will

  • Write research with the team and potentially individually (eg Weekly Espressos)
  • Strong autonomy in improving / designing automation processes
  • Work on collateral of focus strategies timely (monthly, quarterly) together with the Subject Matter Experts within the strategy team
  • Work on the automation of competitive information regarding ETF industry flows
  • Take part in setting the agenda for the weekly strategy call (market moves, economic calendar and events in the week ahead leading to a strategy of the week idea)
  • Work with the team Senior Strategists and Head of the team on ad hoc requests and presentations
  • Manage and answer requests from EMEA and Asia based investors regarding SPDR US domiciled ETFs and SPDR EMEA UCITS ETF (characteristics comparisons and evolution, performance attribution, risk profile comparison etc…)
  • Engage with smart beta, sector and fixed income strategist on data collection and manipulation  to help develop content and models for these asset classes (presentations and research documents as well as working on the monthly market chart pack)

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Master level degree qualified individual with existing experience in or interest in developing a career in ETF strategy and research
  • 4-6 years of financial industry – ETF, sell-side, index  or asset management industry experience preferable
  • Understanding of both fixed income and equity markets is required
  • Knowledge of ESG and Climate Investing is a plus
  • CFA qualified or progress towards the qualification is desirable
  • Language skills in English, potentially German and another European language
  • Strong financial market or index experience is a must
  • Strong knowledge of ETFs is preferrable
  • Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) financial systems such as FactSet, Morningstar Direct, and Bloomberg desirable
  • Fluency in the practical applications of statistics, finance and economics to investment management is required, in particular the ability to analyse and evaluate data and present findings
