The team build and manage multi asset solutions, their philosophy combines a top-down and bottom-up approach in order to deliver diversified, actively managed investment strategies. As Senior Research Analyst you will assess and rate selected mutual funds, ETFs and other vehicles used in the Multi-Asset portfolios we manage. This covers over $100 billion in assets, with around a third of these utilising these vehicles as the building blocks for portfolios.
Job Purpose:
- You’ll work as part of the Manager Research team; identifying managers, conducting due diligence and monitoring fixed income, equity and liquate alternative vehicles – providing research on Franklin Templeton mutual funds as well as third party managers.
- Preparation of written research reports and quantitative analytics on individual funds and strategies
- Analysis and screening of fund universes
- Due Diligence (in-person and remotely) with potential managers
- Ongoing monitoring of approved funds
Your Responsibilities:
- Use a combined qualitative and quantitative approach to provide detailed analysis and comparison of all funds within a particular asset class for use within multiple portfolio programs including those domiciled in Canada, US, and Europe
- Compile regular fund research recommendations – provide a current investment opinion on each fund held in the programs including both proprietary and third party funds
- Source new managers for inclusion in portfolios and our approved manager list
- Develop your understanding of the competitive landscape in various sectors, including monitoring top managers
- Conduct regular due diligence reviews to monitor team, process, performance, positioning and outlook; arrange for and lead investment presentations from sub-advisors in conjunction with Research Director, CIO and portfolio managers
- Keep up to date on capital markets through various brokerage and independent research reports ie. BCA, Gavekal, ISI
- Ad hoc support of portfolio managers through portfolio reviews, and discussions on individual funds or investment ideas.
- Share manager updates and manager outlook with the rest of the FT Multi-Asset Solutions team
- Assist in the improvement of manager research through projects designed to create process efficiencies, track deliverables, improve quality and utility of content, further capabilities in third-party research and more effectively communicate best ideas to PMs and other investment professionals
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ideally CFA designation or post-graduate degree in finance or a related field
- Extensive experience in manager selection
- Strong capital markets knowledge
- Exposure to a multi manager investment platform
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent project management skills
- Strong computer skills including experience with financial applications
- Experience leading people and projects
- Ability to work with a global team.
