Role

The Portfolio Manager role will be part of the Passive Fixed Income team within Global Fixed Income (GFI) responsible for managing Passive Fixed Income mandates for large, sophisticated institutional clients within the International Asset Management business.  You will work closely with senior leadership, analysts and traders to inform decisions, manage portfolio risk, and produce consistent returns.  You will also participate in the innovation and implementation of a growing product area within our global fixed income business.

The key responsibilities of the role include: 

  • You will be responsible for overseeing the portfolio construction, risk management, and performance analysis of our passive fixed income funds, ensuring alignment with client objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Deep understanding of fixed income markets, quantitative analysis, and portfolio management techniques.
  • Understands investment guidelines to ensure that portfolios are managed appropriately and that they do not violate applicable government and industry regulations and trends
  • Analyze and report on the performance of the portfolios relative to their respective benchmarks, including returns vs. the objective, performance attribution, and expected and actual tracking error and any other factors deemed appropriate
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including research, trading, and operations, to ensure seamless portfolio management processes
  • Establish and maintain professional contacts within the Fixed Income industry to further develop market knowledge and expertise
  • Contribute to team’s disciplined investment philosophy and new product development
  • Collaborate with client-facing teams to address client inquiries related to fixed income strategies and market conditions.
  • Provide expertise during client meetings, presenting investment strategies and performance insights.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to their professional development.

Skills/ Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive experience in passive fixed income portfolio management
  • CFA designation is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of fixed income instruments, market dynamics and investment strategies
  • Proficiency in  quantitative analysis and portfolio optimisation techniques
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to work & communicate well under pressure dealing in large volume of work flow as part of a team or unsupervised.  Awareness of the importance of working in a demanding role where errors have financial implications and reputational risk.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-orientated environment
  • Sound knowledge of relevant regulatory and compliance requirements
