Job Purpose:
- You will provide research guidance to CIBC Wood Gundy Investment Advisors on alternative funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), as well as coverage for mutual funds
- As a Senior Manager, Alternative Funds and ETFs, you will also aid in approving structured notes, guaranteed investment certificates (GICs) and high interest savings accounts (HISAs) for sale at CIBC Wood Gundy
- You will contribute to a number of publications including the firm’s Recommended ETF Report and writing investment ideas reports for the Investments Strategy Group.
Your Responsibilities:
- Research and Advice – Conduct due diligence on hedge fund managers for the purpose of adding new funds to CIBC Wood Gundy’s approved list and making recommendations to advisors
- Perform research and support the Director, Investments in creating the Recommended ETF Report
- Monitor performance of the funds on the Recommended ETF Report and make recommendations for additions or removals
- New Product Launches – Coordinate launch of new investment products with business partners including: review and execution of legal agreements, operations, technology and communications
- Be a strong contributor to structuring and creating investment products
- Relationship Management – Answer product inquiries from Investment Advisor
- Assist in the management of fund company relationships and partnerships by attending industry events and presentations
- Handle escalated inquiries from general product hotline or other internal departments
- Other – Manage special projects for Investment Funds
- Prepare and continue to update competitive surveys and industry trend analysis
- Prepare monthly product reporting and ad hoc report requests.
Skills and Qualifications:
- You can demonstrate experience with hedge funds and ETFs, and ideally knowledge of mutual funds and the industry (familiar with National Instruments 81-102 and 81-105)
- You have broad knowledge of investment products and strategy with a minimum 5 years financial services experience
- You also have knowledge and understanding of Morningstar Advisor and Bloomberg, along with strong Microsoft Excel skills
- You have a degree in Business, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering
- You’re a certified professional – You successfully completed your Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and/or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations are considered strong assets
