Thematic Equity Research (80%)

  • Conduct research on technology, energy & resources and demographics themes and their relevance across different industries
  • Contribute to thematic research, particularly identifying investment opportunities across the global economy for innovative and disruptive companies that are driving structural & foundational changes in the global economy
  • Help scale our thematic engagement activities across the investment platform by collaborating on bottom-up research and analysis
  • Consolidate and build up detailed stock coverage, and expand our existing proprietary database of companies with alternative datasets
  • Assume wider responsibility for tracking thematic segments across our thematic universe and key players within those segments
  • Closely follow trends and evolutions in individual themes and ensure our investment strategies continue to reflect them well
  • Stay ahead of M&A activity and other corporate actions across our constituent universe
  • Continuously track leaders within each thematic sub-segment, their key business areas and performance
  • Produce investment theses, including models, and valuation methodologies
  • Publish thought leadership pieces and generate content related to our themes through detailed articles and white papers
  • Collaborate with 3rd party experts and explore new, unique and alternative datasets; interact with constituent companies to learn and understand their business models better
  • Support ETF Investments and distribution teams in meetings to help drive AUM and revenues by participating in client meetings and client events as required

Contribute to the development and maintenance of investment strategies (20%)

  • Proactively forge new relationships with research & data vendors
  • Track the evolution of themes and identify emerging, growth and mature sub-segments
  • Help with the research, development and maintenance of investment strategies

What we’re looking for

  • Prior buy-side or sell-side research experience is required
  • Strong academic credentials; Masters level or higher in economics, econometrics or relevant quantitative finance discipline
  • CFA Charterholder or working towards the qualification
  • Strong interest in thematic investing and expertise in analyzing growth portfolios
  • Advanced Excel user and some programming skills preferred
  • Excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-changing environment
  • Confident communicator
  • Desire to learn and open to different points of views
  • An understanding of how indices work and are designed
  • An ability to analyze and contextualize macroeconomic content that is relevant to our range of thematic ETFs using second-order thinking
