The role

Your role is to create and promote research, commentary and analysis that will improve the market’s understanding, awareness, and appreciation of the potential benefits of our ESG and Climate-based indices – both existing and still under development – across applications within investing, trading, and benchmarking.

The impact

You will support a market-leading range of indices, leveraging ESG and climate data from across the S&P Global businesses and harnessed to market-leading brands such as the S&P 500® and The Dow®.  Your insights will play a key role in helping to build out the client base for a truly global range covering all major asset classes and indicators.

Responsibilities

Activities span the development, delivery, and effective communication of actionable insights across a range of delivery formats including:

  • Identify and execute on relevant research topics
  • Make regular contributions to ongoing commentary and analysis
  • Communicate your ideas simply and effectively across a range of channels
  • Collaborate with outward-facing S&P DJI teams and with specialist ESG and climate groups across the wider S&P Global franchise, including Sustainable1
  • Engage with licensees such as index-linked product providers and exchanges, users of index-linked products, and third parties such as media, academia, and regulators
  • Collaborate effectively with a team of six colleagues split between London and New York.

What we’re looking for:

  • Collaborative, creative, and intellectually curious outlook
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in finance or a related field
  • Exposure to ESG- or climate-based financial services or solutions
  • A good understanding of the investment process, investment management industry, portfolio theory, and financial markets
  • Proven track record in product development and/or research
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills as well as attention to detail
  • First class communication skills – written, verbal and presenting
  • Fluency in English
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
  • Progress towards a CFA charter
  • Knowledge of indexing, passive investing and understanding of S&P DJI core equity indices
  • Additional languages
  • Programming skills (Python, VBA, others)
  • Knowledge of analytical platforms such as FactSet, Capital IQ, Bloomberg, MSCI / Barra, or Axioma
