What is the Product Specialist responsible for? 

The Product Specialist role consists of the following core responsibilities:

  • To own, drive and deliver a coordinated plan of product marketing activity for the Global Emerging Markets (GEMs) equity strategies across channels and regions, in line with business objectives across our distribution network.
  • To support and deliver content for the Asia Long-Term Unconstrained strategy
  • To agree with the Client Portfolio Manager, EMEA, how marketing will support the UK sales plan and align content and collateral delivery

What are the ongoing responsibilities?

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the GEMs strategy including product and portfolio positioning and key competitors; work closely with investment teams and Investment CPM to help build this knowledge and deliver relevant thought leadership.
  • Maintain a good level of general knowledge of emerging markets and current affairs.
  • Partner with CPMs to provide proactive and reactive consultation and guidance on the technical and investment aspects of the Martin Currie offering. Highlight key topics for external discussion based on engaging topical events and enduring investment themes.
  • Own, create and deliver content for external use that is timely, relevant, and engaging to support the sale of the GEMs strategies across jurisdictions utilising TEAMS as key source of information. Work with GEMs Investment CPM in partnership on written/video/audio content. Ensure adherence to Martin Currie guidelines on messaging at a corporate and product level. Ensure external communications are in accordance with audience-appropriate regulation.
  • Deliver relevant information to MC reporting in standard framework for delivery to Northern Trust; includes written commentaries.
  • Accountable for delivery of bespoke presentations/slides or event presentations.
  • Support completion of GEMs RFPs providing technical product support and general support when required.
  • Look for content and messaging opportunities for the GEMs strategy and be creative in supporting new content ideas
  • Work collaboratively with Franklin Templeton to deliver relevant content to drive PR for the GEMs strategy
  • Accountable for working with digital marketing to ensure GEMs web pages have up to date and compliant content
  • Perform competitor analysis and evaluation of investment landscape, encompassing product specific peer reviews, market trends and asset flows.
  • Working as 1 of 4-person, global Product Specialist team to ensure strong collaboration, establishment of best practice, speed to market and efficiencies
  • Provide generalist support for other team members such as peer reviewing content, ad hoc questions/requests, sales aids.

What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?

  • 5 -10 years’ experience in financial services
  • Experience working as a channel marketing manager.
  • Professional qualifications of CFA, IMC, CISI, CAIA or equivalent (IMC/CFA Level I minimum)
  • Degree Level Education
  • Track record in the identification, development, and delivery of product marketing information in a client-centric, commercial and sustainable manner, with the clear objective of asset gathering and retention.
  • Competent in relevant technology such as MS Office, BBG and Morningstar.
  • Strong power point skills and some creative writing experience.
  • Business Knowledge – has comprehensive knowledge of business strategy, investment markets, financial terminology, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong investment knowledge and understanding of financial markets
  • A strong understanding of the distribution channels within our industry.
  • Displays focus, results-oriented and behaviors that are aligned to the Martin Currie culture.
  • Customer orientation: must be able to communicate convincingly with clients, both external and internal, as well as consultants.
  • Some project management experience would be a definite advantage.
  • Strong interest in ESG.
