Your Responsibilities:

  • To develop and manage LGIM’s media relations strategy for its International business and promote its investment business and overall proposition in the external market. Work closely with senior management and other internal stakeholders to enhance LGIM’s reputation and the market perception of its business. Manage agencies in LGIM’s target markets to deliver corporate and investment messages and support sales and business objectives
  • Work with stakeholders and the wider marketing team to identify opportunities and create engaging content for dissemination through external media channels (including social media). A key feature of the role is the requirement to understand LGIM’s corporate ambitions to expand its retail & institutional proposition internationally as the industry evolves, helping to position LGIM as a thought leader in the industry. The role will also be expected to drive the PR strategy for the ETF business and will also support other LGIM distribution channels including DC, DB, and Retail
  • Act as a primary spokesperson for LGIM with the press and industry bodies to enhance and protect its reputation
  • Media Strategy: Develop and manage external media strategy for LGIM’s global investment capabilities, with a particular emphasis on ETFs. Work with business stakeholders to identify and articulate LGIM’s long-term vision and advise on external communications strategies for the media
  • Strategy implementation: Implement the press and social media strategy including: developing and delivering focused, high impact profile pieces on the business; delivering a regular pipeline of news across key media channels; and developing media support for specific businesses, campaigns or strategies as required. Establish and maintain a contact program with key journalists and thought/opinion leaders. Help to select and coach spokespeople
  • Campaigns and Initiatives: Develop and implement targeted media plans to support international marketing campaigns, key business projects, tactical initiatives and organisational changes using the most appropriate communications channels (including social media). Work closely with Marketing Planning, Marketing Services, Digital Marketing and Events to co-ordinate and maximize the impact of PR and paid-for media opportunities
  • Develop key messages: Develop key messages for the institutional, DC/ workplace, retail and direct to consumer market place globally, to increase awareness of LGIM’s capabilities. Work with the Head of Communications to develop BAU and strategic messaging across all investment strategies, promoting growth through both traditional and social media channels
  • Content Production: Preparation and delivery of timely and compliant content, including press releases, articles and blogs, to promote LGIM’s proposition across its target markets. Maximise positive press coverage via channels including the public website and client communications
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key business stakeholders, advising, influencing and coaching on best communication practice. Liaise with Group Communications functions
  • Media Monitoring and Measurement: Manage activities to monitor press coverage (including monitoring of peers) and develop and monitor KPIs, and report on effectiveness. Provide a quarterly report summarising LGIM press coverage and manage the distribution of press cuttings
  • Media and PR agency relationships: Manage the external PR, media training and media monitoring agencies
  • Crisis management: Anticipate and identify issues that may have an impact on the business to safeguard LGIM’s reputation. Respond quickly to a crisis, escalating appropriately and advising the business on reputation risk, guiding and educating the business to become more media savvy
  • Process and Procedures: Develop and maintain LGIM’s external communications processes and procedures documentation, ensuring that communications are compliant and timely
  • Budgets: Manage the media relations budget for the team, including invoicing and payments. Prioritise budget requirements and help develop the marketing budget in conjunction with business heads.

Skills and Qualifications:  

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a PR/media relations role with a global asset management company, or an agency serving the investment industry
  • Experience of managing media strategies for a high-profile organisation
  • Strong relationships with key media contacts in both the international and UK press
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of international and UK media relations practices and the European and UK regulatory environment
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive issues with journalists
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills and ability to develop messages for a variety of audiences
  • European languages would be desirable, with a preference for German and/or Italian.
