Job Purpose: 

  • The Portfolio Manager will work closely with the Senior Portfolio Manager supporting all daily trading and operational aspects of fund management including, but not limited to: trade rebalances, execution, settlement, blotter reconciliation, cash management, wire settlements, collateral movements, margin posting, account set up and documentation and liaising with counterparties, fund custodians, accountants and various third parties on trade related queries
  • The position will be based in New York Life’s midtown Manhattan home office.

Your Responsibilities: 

  • Daily portfolio management responsibilities on a team of Portfolio Managers
  • Rebalance funds as required to ensure that the funds track associated indices
  • Researching and resolving trading discrepancies
  • Processing collateral, margin and wire payments
  • Ensuring trades are booked accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Effectively communicate and interact with the portfolio managers and third parties on trade related queries
  • Reconciling fund positions, trades and cash movements with various trade support teams
  • Fielding various product related questions and inquiries throughout the trading day from accountants, brokers, custodians, authorized participants and market makers
  • Maintaining and updating performance and trading models to ensure effective fund tracking and proper exposure
  • Assisting and contributing to new account set up, fund launches, product development and analysis
  • The position is a team based role and as such the candidate will be required to perform other duties that may not be directly related to index tracking or portfolio management.

Skills and Qualifications:  

  • Five to seven years of relevant working experience in the financial markets
  • Experience in index portfolio management in exchange traded funds or other structures is required
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently and simultaneously
  • Exceptional verbal, written and technical skills
  • Familiarity with various financial products, particularly ETFs, equities and derivatives (swaps, futures, options)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, experience with Bloomberg and Order Management Systems
  • Background experience trading derivatives is preferred but not required.
