Job Purpose: 

  • The Managing Director, Head of Product Research and Analytics is responsible for leading strategic thinking and analysis across the business to create both short and long-term vision and analytical assessments, financial transparency and profitability assessments informing and driving Global Product decision making
  • This individual will also lead the Product Data and Analytics function, creating multiple recurring and ad hoc assessments that identifies overall focus and attractiveness of Nuveen’s investment products.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and management of focus product frameworks/analysis/modeling to support strategic product initiatives and return on investment
  • Develop and oversee distribution channel/firm and product level profitability analysis to establish accurate and timely product pricing
  • Strive to improve the profitability of various product lines, through rationalization recommendations, adjustments to current program/product pricing, share class structuring and partnering on incentive compensation recommendations
  • In addition, the individual will provide gate keeping oversight and management of the evaluation of new and existing platform, revenue share and shareholder servicing agreements
  • Conduct primary, quantitative and qualitative research of investment opportunities and strategies
  • Proactively identify key forces impacting Nuveen and the industry by monitoring and assessing market, competitor, client and regulatory trends
  • Assist in developing the rationale and support for strategic product planning and executing on tactical product initiatives
  • Maintain and enhance an objective framework for identifying which products receive sales and marketing focus, as well as potential merger/liquidation candidates
  • Act as a firm resource for product information, competitive positioning, market trends, etc
  • Enhance manager and market research capability, innovating the way we leverage data and technology in our research process
    • Apply metrics and insights developed through product analytics initiative to other business analyses
    • Support socialization of approach and results across the organization
    • Actively engage with business partners across the firm to integrate key takeaways into action steps
  • Lead and manage the Product Analytics team to craft sales/flows and other predictive analytics in order to create organization focus.

Skills and Qualifications:  

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Product, Finance, business and related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university or equivalent work experience; MBA or CFA preferred
  • Investment Management industry experience required
  • Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize competing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to accuracy and detail
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work with individuals and influence teams across the organization
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
