Job Purpose: 

  • The Head of Fixed Income Product Management will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to Schwab’s Fixed Income Business
  • You will play a critical role in leading and implementing our retail fixed income offer with a goal of improving the client experience and helping drive substantial asset growth
  • Operating with a healthy balance between being an articulate advocate and an objective critic of the product offering, you can have a tremendous impact on our growth and become a leader throughout the business.

Your Responsibilities: 

  • Managing and developing a team of experienced product managers
  • Serve as a member of our Senior Fixed Income Leadership team in determining and executing our overall fixed income strategy
  • Deliver on key performance metrics, such as Client Satisfaction, Net New Assets, Solutions sales, and New to Firm relationships
  • Be a talent magnet, engaging in talent networks and encourage acquisitions of new talent for your function and Schwab
  • Build and develop a high-performing and diverse team, leveraging complementary skills and abilities
  • Create a sense of community, which results in sharing of best practices
  • Develop team members and foster their professional growth on an ongoing basis through effective and regular formal and informal coaching
  • Developing and cultivating partnerships with functional and client-facing business units, including technology, digital services, compliance, marketing, trading, and teams supporting investment advisors and retail branches
  • Leading planning and strategy discussions around product development priorities
  • Generating research and developing recommendations to shape strategy and objectives
  • Developing compelling presentations and supporting communication to a range of audiences
  • Driving product and offer definition based on product expertise, client needs, and resource trade-offs
  • Leading the team’s efforts around enhancement projects from conception through implementation.

Skills and Qualifications:  

  • BA required, MBA/CFA preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience, including background in product management and business strategy
  • Financial services experience, especially with knowledge of fixed income products, including municipal and corporate bonds, treasuries, bond mutual funds, and other packaged products
  • Demonstrable communication skills, including executive presentation development
  • Strong orientation to clients, including ability to understand needs and apply this knowledge to product enhancements, online user experience, and communication content (internal and external)
  • Minimum 7+ years in sales leadership/financial services capacity
  • A strong understanding and grasp of the competitive landscape in the financial services industry, especially related to fixed income and wealth management
  • Expertise in all asset classes of fixed income as well as fixed income products including all sectors of the bond market, and other vehicles such as Managed Accounts, Mutual Funds and ETFs
  • Experience with building teams; ability to motivate and coach experienced team members
  • Proven experience at creating a strategic roadmap and vision for teams
  • Strong general management background including familiarity with human resources policies
  • Executive level communication skills, comfort creating and delivering presentations to varying audiences, including clients, business partners, and senior executives
  • Ability to listen well, think strategically and creatively to solve problems and generate action through persuasion
  • A strong understanding of key partner functions, such as product management, trading, marketing, supervision, and compliance
  • Travel approximately 25%
  • Industry certifications (CFA, CFP, CIMA) preferred
  • Bachelor degree required
  • Series 7, 66, and 9/10 (may consider as a condition of employment).
