Job Purpose:

  • This Legal Analyst will join a legal team that primarily supports Vanguard’s growing U.S. ETF business
  • This legal team provides legal services to Vanguard ETFs throughout the ETF life-cycle, which includes evaluating potential novel products and structures, launching new ETFs, positioning products in the ETF market, advising on primary and secondary market trading matters, advocating for Vanguard’s policy positions, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • The Legal Analyst on this team will work closely with attorneys and other Legal Analysts to provide these legal services to internal Vanguard clients that oversee Vanguard’s suite of products and investment operations.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Supports U.S. ETF life-cycle events, such as launching new ETFs, changing their corresponding benchmarks, or updating SEC regulatory filings
  • Manages a legal process supporting the life-cycle event by working with colleagues and clients to draft prospectus disclosure, prepare SEC regulatory filings, review relevant internal and external communications, and research and resolve corresponding legal issues
  • Provides legal advice to internal clients by researching and resolving legal issues related to ETF and mutual fund regulations
  • Reviews ETF and mutual fund registration statement disclosure to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Establishes procedures and maintains documented requirements as needed
  • Proactively monitors ETF and mutual fund regulatory developments to identify and assess potential impacts to Vanguard funds
  • Supports Vanguard’s commitment to Unmatchable Excellence by assuring adherence to Vanguard’s Individual Contributor Standard, and by analyzing workflows to identify opportunities and solutions for process improvements
  • Participates in projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in related field, or equivalent training and experience
  • Minimum three years of general business experience. Paralegal experience preferred, but not required
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a deadline-oriented and fast-paced environment
  • Strong time management and project management skills
  • Strong written/oral communication and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of Vanguard funds
  • Ability to work with all levels of Vanguard crew and management.
