Job Purpose: 

  • The Learning Program Lead will lead division-wide learning programs and create learning and development solutions that contribute to greater acumen, engagement and career mobility across the Finance division
  • As the Finance Division has grown and developed deeper capabilities, the need to support and enable high performing teams has never been higher
  • This person will partner with others across Vanguard to create great learning experiences from initial onboarding through ongoing development
  • For example, this person will collaborate with Finance departments such as accounting, fund financial services, enterprise risk or enterprise supply management to develop learning content and experiences that allow crew to progress both within and across functions
  • Content will be curated best-in-breed external as well as internally developed where needed
  • This role will provide a fantastic opportunity to engage with leaders across the division, to bring expertise to help people reach their development goals, and to translate adult learning ideas into practical applications.

Your Responsibilities: 

  • Works with leaders to identify training needs, partner with Vanguard University to identify recommended training plans, gauge progress on existing training programs and initiatives, and addresses any program issues or concerns
  • Builds and manages client relationships with Vanguard University, line management, crew, and vendors as appropriate
  • Coordinates training needs
  • Examines trends and collaborates with peers and Vanguard University on course content, recommends revisions/updates to existing training
  • Partners with VU for design resources, trainer support, and operational support
  • Monitors changes in business strategies and goals, assesses their impact on training and takes action to address opportunities
  • Ensures effective controls are in place to monitor and measures effectiveness of training programs
  • Develops effective dashboards for the team’s processes
  • Champions VUE among team members
  • Ensures that effective practices are in place to mitigate risk effective controls are in place to monitor and measures effectiveness of training programs

  • Maintains an in-depth understanding of compliance, regulatory, divisional policies and procedures, and unique unit processes that will impact training delivery
  • Oversees the divisional learning strategy, curriculum and supporting activities
  • Develops and continuously improves the Learning Team service model
  • Develops and oversees the execution of learning strategy and programs, analyzes current programs and establishes clear measures for success
  • Maintains an appropriate level of Vanguard and industry knowledge; keeping current on Vanguard policies and objectives; continuing to expand knowledge of the business and mutual fund and ETF industry; keeping current on the competition
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:  

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years of experience directly related to training, leadership and employee(crew) development
  • Knowledge of talent development programs is preferred
  • Understanding of organization and industry, or ability to quickly learn
  • Strong people leadership skills including mentoring, training and day-to-day management of direct reports
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal influence and communication skills
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities and execute solutions both strategically and tactically
  • Proven ability to develop innovative solutions to complex client situations
  • Strong project management, planning and organizational skills
  • Participates and or leads special learning-focused projects and performs activities as assigned by management.
