Job purpose:

  • We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Head of ETF Capital Markets, APAC.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Establish and develop the HSBC ETF Capital markets offering in the Asia-Pacific region, including improvements to market structure and improvements to the client offering
  • Drive coverage of existing ETF authorised participants and market makers’ community in the Asia-Pacific region and lead the on boarding of new APs specifically focused on the region
  • Proactively manage and further develop relationships with authorised participants, market makers, brokers, ETF trading desks and exchanges
  • Contribute to the Asia ETF business growth plan by actively participating, coordinating and driving key initiatives and projects within Capital Markets and across functional groups globally and in the region
  • Participate in the day-to-day activity of the ETF Capital Markets desk by handling requests of APs and Market Makers, overseeing the daily primary market trading and monitoring real time secondary market volumes, flows and spreads
  • Formulate and proactively communicate investment opportunities and sales propositions
  • Acting as a spokesperson for global and regionally relevant ETF Capital Markets topics with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain a deep awareness of industry trends and sound knowledge of the regulation relevant to ETFs, especially in the region.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • In depth understanding of equity markets with prior experience in the ETF market covering the ETF broker community
  • Strong sales skills with an understanding of how investors use ETFs within portfolios
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong presentation skills
  • In depth understanding of Asian ETF markets and trends
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Experience of bank/broker coverage, producing trade ideas and presenting to institutional and wholesale clients
  • Working knowledge of key business systems (Microsoft office esp. Powerpoint and excel) with ability to manipulate data and create collateral) a strong working knowledge of Bloomberg
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Solution oriented attitude, hardworking, motivated and can-do attitude
  • Mandarin / Cantonese and another regional language would be an advantage.
