Job Purpose

  • Revenue generation across index, Forward Trading and ETFs. Trader will contribute to the formulation of strategies
  • Risk management of global indexes and ETFs book (Delta, Dividends, Repo, FX, Corporate Actions)
  • Key contact with Sales and clients, and ensuring client orders are being executed in best possible and respect of HSBC values.
  • Supervision of traders, high levels of responsibility covering the complete cycle of trading process and a specific focus on conduct
  • Communicate commercial opportunities and optimization strategies across, upward and downward
  • Team management and collaboration cross assets and cross regions to increase synergies and revenues

Impact on the business/ function

  • Effectively maintains various risk positions and manages within position limits, providing liquidity and trade ideas to clients while trading within set limits to help the trading team achieve a given revenue target
  • Appropriately identifies when decisions need to be taken to a high level.
  • Provides consistent pricing and market making to sales force and target clients.
  • Provide feedback to sales and management about Client hit ratio (target, new indexes, replication issues)
  • Collaboration with IT and Quants to enhance trading platform and pricing systems
  • Cross asset collaboration to provide new products to our clients
  • Develop strategies to increase Net revenues and reducing costs (financial resources)
  • Executes firm and customer’ trades in accordance with desk Volcker designation, focusing on conduct and HSBC values
  • Reconciles daily and monthly reports (supervision and assignments from manager)

  • Maintain a robust and efficient control environment to ensure good operational, financial and project management and compliance with HSBC policy and procedures, together with early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise
  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of management information, analysis and reporting framework that supports and informs timely and effective business management and decision making at all levels
  • Lead the implementation and oversight of policy and governance frameworks, procedures, practices and standards to ensure quality, effective risk management and regulatory compliance

Management of Risk

  • The jobholder will ensure the fair treatment of our customers is at the heart of everything we do, both personally and as an organization
  • This will be achieved by consistently displaying the behaviours that form part of the HSBC Values and culture and adhering to HSBC risk policies and procedures, including notification and escalation of any concerns and taking required action in relation to points raised by audit and/or external regulators
  • The jobholder is responsible for managing and mitigating operational risks in their day to day operations. In executing these responsibilities, the Group has adopted risk management and internal control structure referred to as the ‘Three Lines of Defence’.
  • The jobholder should ensure they understand their position within the Three Lines of Defence, and act accordingly in line with operational risk policy, escalating in a timely manner where they are unsure of actions required
