Job Purpose:

  • The Product Specialist (Funds & ETFs Specialist) will be responsible for the Sales and Marketing of Mutual Funds and Exchange Traded Products (ETFs) for PBRS
  • The role holder will make sales plans for Funds and ETFs in PBRS – including focus funds for the quarter, designing a plan of internal education / events in partnership with our Strategic AM partners, ensuring that ICs and RMs are well supported in their sales efforts on the focus funds, helping them review client portfolios, and taking on ownership for fund sales and revenue targets in PBRS
  • The role holder will engage with a multitude of internal HSBC stakeholders – such as  Investment Counselors  (ICs) &  Relationship Managers (RMs) in Switzerland and Luxembourg, Funds & ETFs Group in London, and external Asset Management Partners.

Your Responsibilities:

Impact on Business

  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert for Funds & ETFs within the PBRS  business, working both proactively and reactively with ICs and RMs on all aspects of the Funds & ETFs business, to include the development of an effective Funds Advisory service, general fund marketing and updates, the provision of training to RMs and ICs, and the delivery of bespoke client fund investment solutions
  • Participate in bilateral engagement with third party fund houses, coordinating timely receipt and compilation of all fund-related materials, and organizing fund manager speaker sessions and events
  • Identify funds that provide appropriate product solutions to “in-house” Strategic and Thematic views, driving the process from inception to recommendation stage, whilst participating fully Regional Investment Committee (LIC) meetings
  • Devise and launch Funds Focuses, leveraging Strategic and Thematic views to highlight appropriate fund solutions, managing every aspect of the Focus
  • Provide professional sales and marketing support for RMs and ICs, as well as developing and maintaining a comprehensive suite of Funds support collateral
  • Responsibility for the building and maintenance of a comprehensive list of recommended funds, aligned with regulatory standards and sourced from the Global Funds Master List, with support from the Global Funds team in London
  • Attend client meetings with IC / RM as appropriate in capacity as SME for Funds business
  • Ensuring all updates to funds’ recommended status are quickly and clearly communicated to the Front Office, to include where appropriate, lists of all client holders of funds for Front Office notification
  • Responsible for achieving the AOP of the Funds Business across the Funds line item

  • Maintain awareness of the Operational Risk Scenario associated with the role and minimize risk where possible
  • Identify trends amongst competitors

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of Funds & ETFs industry, having worked in a ETF / Funds Marketing or Management role, or as an Investment Counsellor or Fund Product Specialist, either in a Private Banking or Asset Management context
  • Experience of working as, or with, RMs and ICs
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail.
