Job Purpose:

  • The ETF Investment Strategist role is specifically designed to help support the growing business in developing investment strategies for ETFs and supporting sales efforts
  • An ideal candidate would have experience working with the entire life-cycle of systematic investment strategies with client-facing responsibilities

Your Responsibilities:

Strategy Design, Index Development and Maintenance (60%)

  • Actively engage in the full lifecycle of a systematic investment strategy/index that covers idea origination, investment strategy design, index development and index reconciliation
  • Proactively work with various teams (index solutions, product, legal, sales, marketing, portfolio management, IT, data management and others) within the firm to complete projects and identify synergies
  • Meet tight product development deadlines to help with the expansion of the ETF business
  • Originate ideas based on client feedback, market research and internal discussions
  • Actively contribute towards the development and evaluation of thematic, commodities, factor based and fixed income strategies/indices
  • Evaluate potential data contributors who provide data and research services that are specific to certain sectors, themes and industry
  • Contribute towards various tasks involved in the ETF launch process
  • Work with the product development/legal team to conduct periodic index due diligence, prepare fund supplements and product prospectuses and provide on-going support as required
  • Reconcile index compositions with index providers around index rebalancing
  • Work with the portfolio managers to incorporate their inputs into strategy design

Data Analytics (20%)

  • Develop models to illustrate the performance and risk characteristics of funds, indices and strategies
  • Develop of tools to assist management team to monitor and assess performance of business and products
  • Quantitative competitive comparisons of different indices and strategies including factor attributions
  • Developing reports with charts, graphs and commentary to articulate performance and risk characteristics of indices / strategies
  • Proactively look for opportunities to automate and improve team efficiency

Sales and marketing (20%)

  • Integrate the use of quantitative models in our distribution and product development efforts
  • Involvement in key client pitches on specific products
  • Help with responding to client queries, running ad hoc analysis and providing solutions
  • Conduct training sessions for the sales team to educate them on the messaging, positioning of ETF range and new developments in the market
  • Carry out market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and gaps in the market
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of marketing collateral including presentations, reports and brochures.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • MSc/PhD in: Computational Finance, Mathematics, Financial Mathematics, Financial Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Economics (with a strong element of econometrics), Statistics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with systematic investment strategies, developing indices and drafting of index methodology documents
  • Programming languages: Excellent knowledge of Python, VBA, SQL
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills in English required
  • A strong understanding in linear regression, time series analysis, and hypothesis testing
  • Understanding of regulatory index rules and UCITS investment restrictions would be helpful
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment
  • An understanding of how ETFs work and are traded would be helpful
  • Proficiency in European language(s) would be helpful.
