Job Purpose:

  • The role of the ETF Client Portfolio Manager (CPM) is responsible for being an advocate for TDAM’s ETF product shelf both internally and externally
  • As the subject matter expert on ETF’s, day to day responsibilities include collaborating with TDAM Sales to educate advisors on the nuances of trading ETFs, coordinating with internal investment teams on requests related to creations and redemptions of ETFs, analyzing primary and secondary markets to understand how TDAM ETFs are being traded as well as working with Product and Sales Enablement contributing to product development initiatives and communication pieces
  • The role will also be responsible for assisting the sales team in providing advisors guidance on asset allocation, portfolio structure and implementation decisions
  • The incumbent will be responsible for managing relationships with market makers as well as the exchanges
  • This individual will have the ability to actively listen and understand the needs of the various stakeholders including Sales, Sales Enablement, and Marketing and Communications.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Be the advocate for TDAM’s ETF product strategy across multiple distribution channels
  • Support the TDAM Sales team in educating advisors on ETF product structure, ways to price and trade ETFs and appropriate developments across the industry
  • Responsible for portfolio construction and risk management analysis to assist advisors with asset allocation, portfolio structure and implementation decisions
  • Improve effectiveness of the TDAM sales force by obtaining and communicating meaningful and timely information into sales opportunities 
  • Subject matter expert in the creation of communication content to support the marketing and distribution of ETFs including thought pieces and trade ideas
  • Attend and participate in industry conferences as required
  • Develop and maintain a broad knowledge and awareness of ETF industry developments, competitors and trends, regulatory changes, and exchange rules that could impact TDAM or the trading of TDAM ETFs
  • Support the Product team in the launches of new ETF’s as well as the management of existing ETFs by contributing to research and sharing insights to develop key themes
  • Responsible for primary and secondary market liquidity of TDAM ETFs and works closely with exchanges, lead market makers, and designated brokers (DB’s)
  • Assist the sales process for strategic and/or complex transactions with prospect and existing clients providing in-depth product information around the various aspects of portfolio construction, implementation and trading to achieve efficient execution 
  • Identify ways of engaging the sales and trading capabilities of leading sellside firms to promote liquidity in TDAM ETFs
  • Develop and maintain database linking different data sets including Bloomberg, custodian, and proprietary data points to provide reporting on TDAM ETFs..

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in capital markets with specific expertise in ETF Capital Markets or ETF Trading
  • Strong knowledge of ETF mechanics, including the factors that drive ETF pricing, creation/redemption, liquidity and spreads, premiums and discounts, tax efficiency etc.
  • Knowledge of market structure environment
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate complex solutions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and an ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong knowledge of investment products and competitors
  • A strong  aptitude for technology and its application in an analytical and portfolio management setting with an ability to assimilate complex and varied market data
  • A self-starter who can function with minimal supervision and works well independently as well as within the broader team
  • Able to thrive in a fast paced, time sensitive, exciting team environment
  • Business acumen
  • Proficiency in Bloomberg
  • Knowledge of SQL, Java, and VBA is an asset
  • Bilingual, French- English language skills is an asset
  • The ideal candidate will preferably have a CFA designation plus a relevant undergraduate degree.
