Job purpose:

  • This is a superb opportunity to join our successful Real Assets platform in a highly important and topical role
  • As an Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) analyst you will work closely with key suppliers of ESG data, including our utility bureau provider and our ESG data reporting platform supplier
  • You will own the process of collating, managing and reporting ESG performance data which will feed into the investment analysis process.

Your Responsibilities:

  • In this role you will act as a key link between the ESG team and a number of important internal stakeholders such as Client Solutions and other parts of the Legal & General Group
  • As part of your role you will be supporting the team in providing updated qualitative and quantitative ESG information to support requests for information from existing and prospective clients
  • The role will involve helping to deliver the annual Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) surveys for property funds across the platform
  • Your interpersonal skills will come to the fore in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to gather data and to help drive improvements in GRESB performance
  • The position will utilise your research skills to carry out research into new and emerging best practices associated with ESG across Real Assets
  • The role will support the preparation and dissemination of annual and quarterly ESG reporting
  • The role will lead on the analysis of ESG data and the review of technical reports to assess performance against targets at asset, fund and portfolio level.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ideally we need knowledge and experience of ESG reporting and certification processes such as GRESB and the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM)
  • Experience of integrating ESG into investment decision-making, though not necessarily in a financial institution, will be a definite advantage
  • This is a role which includes a number of technical aspects of ESG implementation and would suit a candidate who enjoys conducting data-driven ESG analysis
  • Excellent numerical and data handling skills are essential to bring the subject matter to life
  • Knowledge of energy and utility management and data
  • Experience of working across different teams and business units will be beneficial
  • Central to this role are communication and collaboration
  • We need an individual with the ability to work closely with ESG team members as well as independently when required
  • A collaborative and partnering approach to working with key suppliers and stakeholders
  • Flexible and outcome oriented – we are a busy and growing business and this individual will need to have the appetite and capability to work on a variety of initiatives whilst prioritising effectively
  • Good communication skills, (verbal and written), with experience of writing and presenting information
  • Diligence and accuracy in terms of data analysis and written reporting
  • As you will be balancing multiple strands of work you will naturally need to be well organised.
