Job purpose:
- The ESG Analyst will be embedded inside the Investment team and work directly with fundamental sector analysts and portfolio managers
- Prior ESG experience at either at a sell-side or buy-side shop is required, but great communication and interpersonal skills are more important, as is an underlying passion for making the world a better place by thoughtful allocation of capital and pushing the companies we invest in to do better.
Your Responsibilities:
- Works directly with the fundamental analysts and portfolio team and help them evaluate ESG issues
- Provides technical ESG assistance and assist investment team in improving understanding and integration of ESG factors into investment decisions and throughout the investment process
- Works with distribution to create and support messaging and content on developments in the strategy’s ESG performance and credentials
- Works with investment team on ESG engagements with companies
- Stays current on ESG trends and developments and recommends them to investment team for enhancements in the strategy and approach
- Promotes the investment team strategies at client conferences and industry events
- Sets and oversees ESG policies, proxy guidelines, data collection and reporting processes
- Ensures processes and research documentation to meet the various regulatory requirements
- Oversees team’s preparation of regulatory and compliance materials, and coordinates with global ESG team
- Works with internal and external data providers (e.g., MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS) and developers (e.g. internal ESG tracking).
Skills/Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in an ESG-related strategy development, financial analysis or research role required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, collaboration and influencing skills
- Ability to present effectively before senior management and to work effectively across multiple levels and types of employees
- Strong analytical skills
- Knowledgeable in global standards related to socially responsible/ESG investing and reporting including but not limited to ICMA Green and Social Bond Principles, UN Sustainable Development Goals, UN Principles for Responsible Investing, Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures, UNEP Finance Initiative, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, Global Reporting Initiative, and Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR)
