Your Responsibilities:

  • Assist the portfolio manager traders in the day to day fund management and trading responsibilities, participates in special projects related to equity fund management and trading, contributes innovative ideas to evolve the strategic approach and operational processes of the desk
  • Engage in the day to day management of the Vanguard LifeStrategy funds to ensure cash flows are invested and funds are managed within the specified investment risk tolerances
  • Construct and validates both standard and customized equity ETF baskets
  • Works closely with ETF Capital Markets Team and strategic partners to ensure quality and integrity of basket files and basket creation process
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of index methodology, benchmark characteristics and risk model attributes
  • Understands the basics of equity market structure and algorithmic trading techniques
  • Under the supervis ion of a portfolio manager, perform analysis on index changes and rebalances to provide the desk with value added insights
  • Develop and maint ain broad knowledge and awareness of trading industry developments, competitors, and exchange rules that impact the trading community
  • Evolve skillset and subject matter expertise towards longer term goal of assuming responsibility for day to day management of equity index portfolios for Vanguard’s European domiciled accounts
  • This includes investing cash flows, trading index changes and electing on corporate action, as well as equity trading responsibilities.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree in business, finance or economics preferred
  • CFA designation or desire to pursue a CFA designation is preferred
  • Previous industry experience with a m inimum of 12-18 months in an investment rated role or trading experience
  • Index and/or Equity exp erience preferred
  • Strong PC skills including a broad knowledge of spreadsheet, database and other applicable software packages
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communications and mathematical skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
