Job Purpose:

  • Reporting to the Head Trader Americas, the Electronic Trader will be responsible for providing consistent and cost effective equity trading execution to the Fidelity funds via electronic methods
  • The global electronic team is responsible for trading the more liquid basket of orders in a programmatic way
  • The team considers both implicit and explicit costs when evaluating methods and processes
  • The electronic trading team engages with quantitative analysts, the street, and firm‘s trading cost analysis provider to understand market structures, algorithm behaviour with the end goal of evaluating and improving the trading process and costs
  • The electronic trader will be responsible for North American and Latin American equity trading and equity derivative trading.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute electronic order flow across Americas equity markets
  • Manage and execute equity linked order flow including futures, ETFs, derivatives (listed and OTC)
  • Demonstrate and share knowledge of electronic equity trading, market structure and market challenges
  • Work closely with global electronic trading team to maintain a globally consistent process, contributing to the global strategy focused on algorithm selection and optimization
  • Partner with regional high touch traders to optimize trade execution and flow
  • Pro-actively engage with sell side counterparties on algorithm construction and market micro structure
  • Protect and where possible enhance Fidelity’s reputation in the marketplace
  • Engage with Trading Cost Analysis providers, quantitative inputs and technical analysis to reduce Fidelity trading costs where possible
  • Work closely with the equity trading team to improve systems and reduce operational risks
  • Manage all aspects of Electronic orders including room to buy issues and compliance halts
  • Work with the Head Trader on improving pre-trade order profiling and post trade attribution
  • Provide input to Head Trader to analyze and improve the trading process for best execution including feedback on individual brokers and support functions
  • Work effectively and professionally with the business partners of Global Equity Trading including compliance and risk management, information technology, and other similar groups
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Fidelity Global Trading Policies and Procedures, Best Execution and Order Handling Policies and Fidelity Code of Ethics
  • Be familiar with and adhere to various Securities Regulators rules, including but not limited to market abuse and anti-money laundering requirements.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in electronic trading
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the investment industry, ideally supporting a team of investment professionals
  • University degree
  • You will have demonstrated experience with and knowledge of equity trading algorithms and platforms
  • You will demonstrate an ability to negotiate well with brokers and manage relationships effectively
  • You have strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a keen interest in the investment process
  • You have the credibility, communication skills and professional presence to interact effectively with investment professionals at all levels of experience
  • You are able to prioritize, work under pressure and demonstrate a commitment to the Fidelity team.
