Job purpose:

  • The Director, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) is responsible for NYSE’s approach to ESG in each of its markets
  • In this highly visible role, the Director serves as the primary liaison between the NYSE and its listed company issuers on sustainability/ ESG/governance topics and as part of the Advisory Services team, provides consultation and guidance in support of creating and elevating their value proposition in the ESG space.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the advisory lead for relationships on ESG between NYSE and issuer C-level / BOD / sustainability / legal professionals
  • Educate listed companies on best practices to expand from laggard to average to leaders on ESG
  • Build & maintain best-practice ESG templates across major sectors for early-stage, pre-IPO, post-IPO, and fully-floated organizations (meeting NYSE touchpoints)
  • Organize sector-specific sustainability roundtables and secure information-sharing groups to help industry participants build effective ESG standards and calculation methods
  • Build relationships with issuer treasury departments on green / sustainability debt issuance market
  • Lead the expansion of NYSE brand as a symbol of ESG standards
  • Expand stewardship-focused Investor Access program – virtual and physical shareholder engagement
  • Publish content showing the expansion of adoption of ESG disclosures and operations across listed company universe (TCFD, SASB, etc.)
  • Serve as the relationship manager for NYSE third-party ESG / governance-related relationships
  • Support in-house regulatory relationships – SEC, international regulators
  • Serve as the SME and thought leader on ESG and other advisory matters
  • Pursue organic and inorganic business opportunities – ESG or other advisory.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Graduate Degree preferred
  • 7 or more years’ experience, including significant experience in a financial services organization
  • 5 or more years’ experience within the ESG space
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial markets
  • Excellent communication and strong presentation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in interfacing with senior management
  • Proven track record of excellent client relationship management
  • Established relationships with media
  • Passion for ESG highly desirable.
