Job Description

The Director – ECM Focus in the ESG Capital Markets team will report to the head of ESG Capital Markets, EMEA, helping to deliver the full breadth of Bank of America Securities’ ESG expertise to our Capital Markets clients.

Key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Take primary ownership for development of BofA’s ESG CM equity franchise in the EMEA region
  • Provide subject matter expertise on ESG-focused equity and equity-linked investor portfolios, key decision makers running these portfolios, their ability to participate in various transaction types (e.g. late stage private rounds, IPOs, convertible bonds, etc.) and ESG criteria in their decision-making processes
  • Develop expertise on major trends in ESG investing, such as net zero portfolios, increased focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, impact investing, and the data sources used by both active and passive ESG-focused investors to identify investment opportunities (SBTi, TPI, MSCI, Sustainalytics, CDP, S&P, VE, etc.)
  • Partner closely with Product and Banking teammates in the EMEA region to help clients navigate the capital markets from an ESG perspective, including advice on ESG and sustainability-themed investor disclosure
  • Collaborate with Advisory teammates within the newly formed ESG Advisory and Financing Solutions team to share industry, investor, and client insights in order to develop optimal strategic advice for clients
  • Originate new IPO, follow on, and equity-linked mandates across industries and client segments, advising clients on documentation, marketing, and execution of new transactions
  • Partner closely with primary Banking and Capital Markets coverage officers as an active part of the client relationship, meeting with Bank clients and presenting, following up to maintain responsibility of ESG dialogue / relationship with clients
  • Participate in deal teams to drive the execution phase of awarded business; lead ESG work streams with respect to preparation of offering documents, roadshows, and investor presentations
  • Partner with syndicate and equity sales teams to collect investor feedback, respond to investor questions and stay abreast of ESG market trends
  • Win new business consistently, with a high success rate. Create regular opportunities for improved economics on mandated transactions
  • Work collaboratively with other Bank personnel so as to represent BofA Securities in the highest possible light, including external speaking engagements such as conference panels
  • Be a positive influence on the team culture, including mentoring junior staff, recruiting, and participation in internal team events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or CFA preferred
  • Substantial experience within capital markets, including expertise in public and private equity transactions
  • Knowledge of ESG investing concepts, several years of ESG-investing/analysis or related experience preferred
  • A track record of honest and highly ethical transaction execution for clients
  • A proven track record of a proactive and assertive approach to winning client business
  • Strong quantitative/analytical skills
  • Distinguished written and oral communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team collaborative environment
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Ability to manage several projects at once and work effectively as an individual and as part of a team
  • Ability to travel extensively. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, this role required significant international travel, and the expectation is for that travel to resume once appropriate
  • Fluent in English; ability to communicate in French, German, Spanish or any other European language for business is beneficial though not required
