Job Purpose:

  • The Director of Strategy will play a significant role on the team, primarily focused on planning and implementing major strategic initiatives that intersect the priorities of key business partners within our broader asset management organization (Schwab Asset Management Services, or SAMS).

Your Responsibilities:

  • Charles Schwab Investment Management (CSIM), the investment advisor for the Schwab Funds mutual funds and ETFs
  • Charles Schwab Investment Advisory (CSIA), which includes all of our proprietary managed accounts, including Schwab Intelligent Portfolios, Schwab Managed Portfolios, Windhaven Investments and ThomasPartners
  • The Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR), who provide industry insights for investors
  • The Asset Management Client Solutions (AMCS), responsible for leading Schwab’s 3rd party platforms, offering Mutual Funds, Managed Accounts, ETFs, Annuities & Insurance, and Alternative Investments.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 8 – 10 years of work experience in asset management, consulting, investment banking, corporate development and / or internal strategy function
  • Consulting experience or corporate strategy experience
  • Asset management experience can include experience in strategy, product management, product development, operations, finance, sales or relationship management
  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA and / or equivalent post-MBA level experience a plus
  • High degree of comfort dealing with ambiguity; comfort in a dynamic and fast paced work environment
  • A strategic thinker with strong business judgment and analytical skills, who is able to problem solve as issues arise
  • Excellent project management skills, including attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and work efficiently (independently and with teams), to meet tight deadlines with minimal direct supervision
  • Positive relationship building and partnerships skills; a strong teammate with experience leading initiatives across multiple departments
  • Outstanding communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability developing materials and effectively presenting to and persuading executive audiences
  • Expert user of PowerPoint and Excel, including modeling and data manipulation required.
