Job Purpose:
- The Associate Portfolio Manager will primarily be responsible assisting with the day-to-day management of the PowerShares listed ETFs and supporting a wide range of fixed income portfolios
- The ability to cover a wide range of portfolios in a high volume, time sensitive environment is critical
- The Associate Portfolio Manager will work under the direction of the ETF portfolio management team and will leverage the full team to execute on assigned portfolios.
Your Responsibilities:
- Portfolio Management and Trading – Understanding the underlying investment strategies and executing on orders daily
- Broker interaction – Extensive use of broker network to source bonds; communicate with market makers and facilitate in-kind ETF orders
- Global ETF infrastructure and process flow – Gain a thorough understanding for primary contacts, and requirements for Equity, Fixed-Income and ETF portfolios managed in various structures (Europe, Canada, U.S.)
- Maintain a close liaison with other fund managers, acting as primary project manager ensuring that there is a constant dialogue on market, regional and regulatory developments, risk and performance reporting, while providing ideas for efficient exposure management and the enhancement of the execution process
- Analyze corporate actions and coordinate portfolio manager decisions with all applicable parties
- Set up daily in-kind ETF basket and portfolio management trading files, in accordance with Portfolio Management goals
- Establish and maintain a range of market contacts, including brokers and market makers, while developing objective evaluation tools to measure execution and portfolio performance
- Work with investment teams and fellow traders to develop portfolio management skills, and investment ideas for improved performance
- To undertake relevant associated performance reporting and administration tasks for the Portfolio Management team.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 3+ years of work experience in trading and fixed income securities is required
- Knowledge of Aladdin is required
- Candidate will require strong analytical skills to analyze market data and effectively interact with a variety of groups both internally and externally
- In-depth knowledge of the global fixed income markets, prior trading experience, and the ability to provide market color are required
- Ability to make quick decisions, establish priorities and concentrate on detailed information under time sensitive conditions
- High proficiency in Excel/VBA, Bloomberg, Charles River considered a plus
- Knowledge of the principles and procedures of investment analysis, statistics, and economics as would be acquired through completion of a Master’s degree in Business, Finance or related field is preferred, but not required
- CFA designation (or progress towards CFA designation) is preferred, but not required.
