Job Purpose:

  • The Assistant Portfolio Manager will primarily be responsible for the day-today management and support of VanEck Vectors Equity ETFs
  • The ability to manage a wide range of portfolios in a high volume, time sensitive environment is critical

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support the assigned portfolios and perform daily portfolio management tasks to meet or exceed performance standards consistent with fund’s investment objectives while adhering to client-specified or regulatory restrictions and constraints
  • Execute rebalance trades and cash trades based on ETF inflows and outflows
  • Manage and approve ETF orders
  • Develop trading baskets to facilitate daily order trades
  • Construct and manage trading calendar
  • Create and research projections for rebalances/corporate action changes in the underlying benchmark indices
  • Support the on-boarding process for new funds and portfolio restructurings
  • Coordinate internally with capital markets and product management
  • Establish and maintain a range of market contacts, including brokers and market makers, while developing objective evaluation tools to measure execution and portfolio performance
  • Provide index research and participate in product development to seek and identify new ideas for broadening ETF product line
  • Assist in enhancing portfolio management systems/models/processes
  • Evaluate new markets to support product launches and addressing portfolio management issues
  • Be able to provide Asian and European hour trading coverage at a minimum two days per week

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of ETF portfolio management desk experience required
  • 5-8 years of experience in the investment industry with a strong understanding of asset management, ETFs market, equity markets, and trading
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA a plus
  • CFA designation (or progress towards CFA designation) is preferred but not required
  • Strong quantitative analytical skills, including knowledge of optimization and risk models
  • Understanding of index provider methodologies and index changes
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills coupled with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to make quick decisions, establish priorities and concentrate on detailed information under time sensitive conditions
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills required as this position will work across multiple teams within the firm
  • Detail oriented and well organized
  • Self-starter who takes ownership, is motivated, and enthusiastic
  • Team player who possess positive attitude towards work
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High proficiency in Excel & Bloomberg, SQL & VBA programming.
