What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Head of ETF Distribution – Italy?

  • Being the ambassador of our ETF business in Italy (position based in the Milan office).
  • Defining the ETF sales strategy for Italy including the marketing strategy in collaboration with our local marketing teams.
  • Covering and developing the client relationships from the existing team. Redefining target segment and prospects where appropriate and working closely with the existing local Sales Team to do so.
  • Hosting and attending meetings with prospects and supporting the management of all aspects of opportunity and prospect qualification process. This is an operational role.
  • Prospecting: Initiating and managing relationships with prospects and relevant segment intermediaries at a senior level.
  • Maintaining and ensuring a high degree of accuracy of prospect information and sales activity on the CRM system
  • Building strong relationships with the existing Mutual Fund Sales Teams and Head of Italy, ensuring smooth communication about any aspect of our ETF business.
  • Ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements. Understand the regulatory landscape of the industry and anticipate the changes so that we can adapt the business.
  • Ensuring that channels of communication are open between the various teams: products, sales, marketing, capital markets in the various geographies.
  • Build awareness around our ETF initiative both internally by training existing team and externally by building our profile with clients, journalists and at industry events.
  • Participate to the product launch pipeline and help define ETFs that we need to launch for the year.
  • Manage existing ETF team (consisting of 1 person for now), ensure that their development needs are looked after and that they can grow into their role.
  • Interacting with the press.

What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?

  • Bachelor’s / MSc degree ideally within the field of Finance and/or economics or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years professional experience in the ETF field preferred – can consider other areas but strong client relationships in Italy with Private Banks, Asset Managers, Family Offices and/or Institutional clients a must.
  • Ideally CFA or equivalent qualification
  • Strong understanding of the financial market in Italy preferably on the following segments (Discretionary Managers, Family Offices, Asset Managers, …).
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of consultative selling skills and an ability to work alongside existing Sales Teams.
  • Good working knowledge of the investment industry and investment management techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written Italian and English communication skills.
  • Management experience not essential but a plus – This can be a step-up role for someone looking to move into management.
  • Desire and ability to network and leverage opportunities within market
  • Ability to navigate complex organisations on multi levels / geographies and build internal networks
  • Results focused and a self-starter
  • Strong team player with the ability to use own initiative
  • Travel will be required to cover the various investors but also to attend internal seminars in other countries.
